Almost right ! MS, if offering a discount to those that beta tested it,
will simply jack up the price for non - beta tester purchasers, to cover the
cost of any discount "given" to beta tester purchasers ! :-)

....all those millions that will be duped into thinking they got it cheaper,
.......what a great way to market a new software package ! Capture your
audience first under the guise of beta-testers, and tell'em it'll be cheaper
'cause they helped beta-test it, then sting'em for what you were gonna
charge in the first place ! BRILLIANT !!!

It has been reported that early adopeter of the Beta Version get the
release
version at a much lower price.
Sounds flakey, in more ways than one, to me. It is one thing to pass out
Betas of a image editer (Acrylic, for example) and quite a different thing
to pass out security related Beta programs. I'd suggest an arms length
relationship between security publishers and OS/general application
publishers as a good policy.
