| Microsoft programmers/ lurkers, WE NEED HELP ON THIS ONE! Your anti-spyware
| program isn't fixing this. I'm running McAfee, and have tried numerous
| "fixes" offered in this and other forums, SOME of which appear to be bogus
| ways to load EVEN MORE Winfixer adware onto my machine. The adware has
| multiple modes -- it not only pops up ads for numerous products, it will
| hijack an existing screen. Every time I think I've got it whipped, up pops
| another screen. Furthermore, most users aren't nearly sophisticated enough
| to try all the various "fixes" offered in these forums invovling editing
| registries, downloading software from relatively unknown authors, etc. . We
| need a blessed, Symantec, McAfee, or MICROSOFT solution to this horrendous
| piece of adware. What amazes me is that it isn't "FAMOUS" in the news yet
| since it's so damaging and so incredibly hard to remove. This is going to be
| a major trojan/adware infection for ALL PC users unless the major anti-virus
| manufacturers GET ON IT RIGHT AWAY. I'd like to hear from MICROSOFT directly
| on this one, my email address is easy enough to find on the web. Wade Nelson

Durango:

I understand your reluctance. Your inate senses are working well. Sharon is really a Troll
named PCBUTTS1.

Do a Google search on 'PCBUTTS1' and you'll see what I mean.

There is NO reason why you should have to email anyone for fix for your problem. You posted
in a News Group for help and you will get a public reply with assiatance for *all* to
benefit form the assistance.

If you search this news group or Google for 'David H. Lipman' you will see that I have
assisted numerous people with computer infections.

While I am not a MS MVP the anti virus utilities that I write are suggested by *many* MS
MVPs to help remove infectors.

Again I understand you reluctance but please trust that I am honest and sincere. If you
don't want to try my WinFixer Fix ustility, I'll understand.

I suggest the following recourse...

Download WinFixerFix.exe from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/WinFixerFix.exe

Execute; WinFixerFix.exe { Note: You must accept the default of C:\McAfee }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to enable WGET.EXE to download the needed McAfee related files.

Execute; c:\mcafee\clean.bat
{ or Double-click on 'Clean Link' in c:\mcafee }

A final report in HTML format called C:\mcafee\ScanReport.HTML will be generated. At the
end of the scan, it will be displayed in your browser (Opera, FireFox or Internet Explorer).
It is suggested that you move the report out of c:\mcafee before performing another scan.
It would be a good idea to scan in Safe Mode and in Normal Mode and save a copy of the HTML
report for each session.

Please download, install and update the following software...

* Ad-aware SE v1.06
  http://www.lavasoft.de/
  http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

* SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.4
  http://security.kolla.de/

After the software is updated, I suggest scanning the system in Safe Mode.

* * * Please report back your results * * *
