A search using Google groups will access all posts to all Usenet newsgroups
for the last 10 or more years. In addition, your ISP, ComCast, to an almost
certainty carries several months, at a minimum, of posts for each newsgroup.
Just click on the [Headers] button in your newsreader, Outlook Express.
Each click will access a block of the next earlier posts until all the
message headers are retrieved. Very liklely you will find most of 2005
available.
The warning about the 'id' post is certainly NOT off topic in a security
newsgroup. Such a warning is part of the value of a good newsgroup. The
fact that the replies from 'id' are intemperate dosen't negate the value of
the warning posts. I don't believe behavior like 'id' in this and other
newsgroups is acceptable, but this is Usenet. The only thing than can be
done about posters you wish to ignore is to add each to your 'blocked
senders' list. Unfortunately posters like 'id' frequently change their
identity specifically to defeat tools like a 'blocked senders' list.
Overall this newsgroup is a serious and valuable resource with a very high
on-topic precentage.
