Rain Man:
I did read your complete post and the paragraph you're referring to in my
previous reply is known as a "Signature". That is, it's applied to ALL
messages I send. The reason I put this "Signature" on my outgoing replies
is because of a problem that exists in some newsgroups where dubious people
"Host" programs on their own website in violation of the author's wishes.
This exposes "Novice Users" to possibly downloading altered or dangerous
files from a website that knowingly hosts these files without permission.
Not knowing your level of expertise with potentially dangerous files, I
erred on the side of caution. The information I got on your file was from a
Google search which more experienced users try first to answer a question.
My "Signature" contains good advice.
-- *** NEVER download files from anywhere unless it is from the website of the developer, manufacturer or some entity that you trust. They ALWAYS have the most up to date files that haven't been tampered with by some third party who is "hosting" (read Leeching) those files without permission. *** "Rain Man" <RainMan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3E0AE41F-5E4C-4744-B940-8446F22858A4@microsoft.com... > Please note the official (new) Microsoft file shows the following > information: > > File version: 8.0.0.4487 > Description: Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Decompressor > Copyright: Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp. 1996 - 2001 > Company: Microsoft Corporation > File Version: 8.00.00.4487 > Internal Name: mpg4ds32.ax > Language: English (United States) > Original File name: English (United States) > Product Name: Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Decompressor > Product Version: 8.00.00.4487 > > For Fitz's benefit: I did NOT just download it off some random website nor > do I ever do so.
