| Hi,
|
| Are you sure that using Defrag in this situation is a good idea?
|
| If there are bad sectors on the drive then moving the files around to tidy
| them up may only make things worse! Some important data files may end up
| placed into a bad sector.
|
| I would advise running a low level disk test such as SpinRite or similar to
| rule out faulty or failing disk media first.
|
| As an alternative the hard drive manufacturters long drive test should be
| run to ensure that everthing is reported as working.
|
| Kind Regards
|
| Simon

Absolutely don't use Gibson's software SpinRite ! I cringe and shudder in response of you
bringing up a Steve Gibson software product !
The test is to use the hard disk manufacturer's diagnostic software and the OP,
fsr224@att.net , is reluctant to do so.
