I had done that. I'm now running 1.4. However, my question wasn't
about where to get an upgrade - that's obvious - but about why it
wasn't automatic.

OK, thanks, understood. I mistakenly read 'integrated' as meaning
'both definitions and software'.

Why so defensive? My post wasn't an attempt to give a balanced review
of Spybot (FWIW, I think it's excellent overall), but to raise a
specific query about what looked (and still looks) like a minor flaw.

So, anyone know the answer to my question please? Maybe it's just that
there *is* no automatic update of the software (at least in 1.3)?
