| I actually managed to figure out what the problem was (well, in a
| manner of speaking :)using Event Viewer > Application in XP's Computer
| Management Console. Every time I attempted to enable On-Access Scan
| resulted in a new entry in the log that looked like:
| Event Type: Error
| Event Source: McLogEvent
| Event Category: None
| Event ID: 5022
| Date: 14/07/2005
| Time: 14:04:34
| User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
| Computer: MIND-GAMES
| MCSCAN32 Engine Initialisation failed. Engine returned error : The DAT
| file versions don't match each other.
| I think the cause may have been incorrect update(?) What do you think?
| Anyway, I removed the whole thing and installed version 8.0 instead.
| Works the way its supposed to now.
| Thanks a lot for your time and energy!
That's Enterprise VirusScan 8.0i that you are using ?
[ I still prefer the v7.1E which is w/o the IDS. ]
Thanx for updating the thread. In a way, I am glad the problem was with the program and it
was not a virus. ;-)
