Thanks to everyone for their help. In the end I got rid of it after
following this very helpful advice from Bill Barr:
I downloaded the removal tool from Symantec, it found the little bugger but
it was unable to remove it. Each time I re-booted I got the Norton Anti
Virus warning appearing telling me I was infected with trojan.vundo.b
The problem I had is that my Norton Anti Virus had the Auto Protect function
on. I think this function 'protects' the virus file e.g. it knows it is a
virus and wont let it move, open or even be deleted.
This is what I did and it worked:
1) disconnected from my ISP
2) turned off the Anti Virus Auto Protection
3) ran the Removal tool and when it found the Virus I followed the
instructions, clicked OK to reboot and the system restarted. I searched for
the virus file and it had been deleted.
4) turned back on the Anti Virus Auto Protection and rebooted again
5) No message to say the virus was found.
6) did a full system scan using the virus checker and it was clean.
Cheers
Stuart Reed
