| Here are the error messages.
|
| 1. After I downloaded, unzipped, and executed the file, I got the following
| error message:
|
| 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
| Wget http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/pattern/lpt 526.21*
| C:\WINNT\System 32\Auto exec.nt.
| The system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and mircosoft windows
| application. "Close" to terminate the application.
|
| 2. I clicked on "Ignore" instead and got the following message:
|
| Trendmicro sysclean package.
| Pattern file "LPT$VPN.*" is missing. Please download a copy.
|
| 3. I clicked on Okay and the Red ball-like Icon appeared among the other
| sysclean Icons in the file folder.
|
| 4. I clicked on the Red ball-like Icon and your program opened with the
| following message laying over the top of it:
|
| Required file "C:\sysclean\tsc.bin" is missing.
|
| 5. I clicked on Okay and everything disappeared.
|
| That's what happened. I think I spelled everything correctly, but there may
| be an error or two.
|
| Does that help?

Greg:

Yes it does...

AUTOEXEC.NT Fix Method 1:
----------------------------------------------
copy; %windir%\repair\autoexec.nt
to
%windir%\system32

AUTOEXEC.NT FIX Method 2:
----------------------------------------------
Go to; Start --> Run
enter; cmd.exe

{ assuming the Win2K CDROM disk is in drive "D:" }
In the Command Prompt enter...
expand D:\i386\autoexec.nt_ %windir%\system32\autoexec.nt

Download the utility SYSCLEAN_FE in "Procedure 1" at the following URL, SYSCLEAN_FE
automates the download and execution process of the Trend Sysclean Package.
http://www.ik-cs.com/got-a-virus.htm

Direct URL: http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Sysclean_FE.exe

Execute; SYSCLEAN_FE.EXE
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; c:\sysclean\SYSCLEAN_FE.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'SYSCLEAN_FE Link' in c:\sysclean }

Reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key during boot]

Shutdown as many applications as possible in Safe Mode !
It would also help for you to read - "How to perform a clean boot in Windows XP"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

Then Execute; c:\sysclean\SYSCLEAN.COM

A final log will be created called C:\sysclean\syclean.log.
I guess that should do it for now... Good Luck !

Dave
