Macafee Alert

Hi there

    Quite often i get a alert from Mcafee Firewall that someone has tried to
ping my computer , the hackers may be from my city or sometimes from as far
as Beiging, Hongkong etc, what is the possibility of data stealing in such
situations, what precautions should i take.
