Aside from Dave's excellent advice, make sure you are doing all scans
for malware in Safe Mode. You didn't mention whether you were doing
this or not. If not and you don't know how (don't want to insult you of
course), get into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key as the
computer is starting. This will get you to the right menu to choose
Safe Mode and from there do all scans.
