Hello Mr. Hall,
Im giving a bit of optimism towards the drive itself since the owner's pc
is just over 3 months old. All the knowledge that I've gathered, including
the vasts amounts of information that I already know, tell me that the source
of the hard drive's misfit roams in the boot sector. It just wont pass
through my mind that such a new device could already be (as you put it)
"crapped out". I never really trusted Western Digital HDDs...not that THAT's
the case. The real question is: what must have happened in order to cause a
boot sector to go bad, not including viruses of any kind?(I scanned without
results.) That answered, will give me a big pointer as to how to prevent it
from falling again in the wrong hands...in this case(i didnt mention) my
clients pc is 99.9% used by a kid. That tells me a few things.
I'll be very busy for the next 2 days....before weekend kicks, I'll start
on fixing primarily with a Repair Install using the XP CD.
Thanks alot,
DigitalBIOS.
