If your drive is not showing, there is a reasonable chance that it has
crapped out.. I would probably buy a new drive, start over, and then see if
I could recover stuff from the old one..
In this way, if it has crapped out, you now have a working computer, and you
may have gotten some extra storage in the event that you get the old one
back again.. at worst, you will have a working computer..
