ONLY because you updated from a previous OS version such as Win98 or WinME.
That is why you must really look at the %TEMP% and/or %TMP% environmental variables to look
at exactly where the they point to.
Another side effect of upgrading. If you were using Win2K or NT4 then the root Windows
directory is c:\winnt. Then WinXP will be using c:\winnt rather than c:\windows. The
%windir% environmental variable will point to the correct location.
