You seemed to say that a lot of packets are going out. If so, I doubt
that it is Norton. In theory, a "call home" to check for the latest
definition should not take 4G of data to do the job.
Can you see the destination or source IP? If so, you should be able to
confirm that it is Norton. My guess is that it may be runaway bug or a
Trojan. Run netstat to get an initial feel. Confirmed your suspicion
with ipTicker.
