Eli, Did you receive an answer that fixed your problem? I too have
searched the Microsoft KB for ideas on how to turn off Audit Mode. I
run Windows 98SE and while trying to install Symantec System Works 2005
at the end of the install I receive similar if not identical error
messages. When I went to the Symantec KB and ran Automated Support
Assistant as they directed, I too received the same message that my
computer was running in Audit Mode. Like you I had one registry file in
current version that contained audit mode reference (2nd from the top
alphabetical) with all zero values. I am afraid to delete it for fear
that it may shut down the entire computer as suggested by Symantec
should one delete the wrong file(s). As an aside, what a pain to
manually uninstall all the prior version files from SW2002. Reading
through the posts it seems unsure if this is a real issue or if the
Symantec software is off base? When I tried to unistall SW2005 then it
removed some dll file too that I may need. I have retried to remove and
reinstall several times but still no luck.
