Are you saying that when you examine the C: and D: partitions from
Linux, Linux freezes too? If so, then I'd guess you have a hardware
problem. To test your drive(s), download a diagnostic utility from the
drive mftr.'s website. Make a bootable floppy, set the box to boot from
that drive, and boot with the utility. Run a thorough test. If you get
errors, replace the drive. Windows keeps its boot files on C: (hda).
