some of us are not laughing, per say, but a smile is in order. I am new to this site, and the IT stuff, so bear with me. I am sure if I give any miss information, somebody would say something. The Prefetch file, as I understand it, is a system file that holds programs that go out to the net and "grab" stuff from the net that programs you have installed use. Some of them are for updates, some are for the author of the programs' to track what you are running, some just look for some sort of hand shake. Only the true gurus prob. know what they really do out there. I, personally, wonder through the prefetch file, now and again, and delete any/every thing I don't recognize. (I run an older system, and sometimes the prefetch stuff will steal focus) If the file was importante, it will reproduce itself at boot,{or not let you delete it}, if its not YEA!!!!!! Heck, I've even truned some of the prefetch files, which wouldn't delete normally, into "read" onlys, then deleted them.
