Does the 'New' option appear under 'File' in other applications?"
Have you installed any new applications that might add options under 'File'?

I don't have an answer for you, but these questions might indicate a
direction in which to look.

For communication,
replace "at" with the 'at sign'
replace "mindjump" with "mindspring."
replace "dot" with "."

> Please help! I am running Windows 2000 Pro on a Dell laptop. I no longer
have the "New" command on Windows Explorer, i.e. to create new folders and
such. I have installed the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 1.2 and
performed the suggested actions. I also run McAfee virus scan, AOL Spyware
protection, and Lavasoft's Ad-Aware 6.0 version. The problem is, I am not
precisely sure at which point I lost the ability to create new folders and
the "New" option no longer showed up on Windows Explorer under "File", nor
did it show up by right clicking on the desktop. Thanks SO MUCH in advance
for your help. Marie
