Hi, Dawn. It is not necessarily true that your troubles come from having
a virus, but the best way to determine this is to run a full-featured
antivirus with updated definitions! If you don't have one (and
apparently you don't), you should get one right away. Spyware can also
cause Internet connectivity problems. Unfortunately, you haven't given
us enough information to get specific answers. Here are some generic
troubleshooting steps for you to take:

1) scan with current antivirus ("current" means a version not earlier
than 2002 but using updated virus definitions); 2) remove spyware with
Spybot Search & Destroy (www.safer-networking.org) and Ad-aware
(www.lavasoftusa.com). These programs are free, so use them both since
they complement each other. You may also want to run the latest
CWShredder from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html. Always
read the instructions before running a spyware removal tool. Be sure to
update these programs before running, and it is a good idea to do
virus/spyware scans in Safe Mode.

After removing spyware, you may need to run this program to get back on
the Internet http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm to repair Winsock2
settings.

After you know your computer is virus and spyware-free, if you are still
having problems repost. Be sure to tell us what you've done to
troubleshoot, how you connect to the Internet (dialup, cable,
whatever), and what ISP you use.
