The Sasser virus will find you in 10 minutes and infect you unless you are
behind a firewall. There is almost no way to install a Microsoft OS and
update it online anymore without getting infected, unless you are using a
real firewall. A dialup is particularly susceptible to the Sasser, since
some DSL and cable systems supply a rudimentary firewall or the router has
NAT (Network Address Translation)
I have questioned this problem before and I don't see an obvious solution
except a hardware firewall with stateful packet inspection and/or NAT.
Maybe someone else can help you better.
