You probably installed a new bootloader into the mbr (such as
lilo or grub) when you installed linux, and that's what is causing TCAV to
freak out.

I imagine that TCAV tries to detect bootsector viruses by checking
if the mbr/bootsector has changed during each boot.

You have to tell TCAV that the new bootsector is good using whatever
configuration options it provides.
