Dirty mouse? Bad mouse cable?(The most likely explanation is a mouse cable
that slowly went bad - intermittent connection of a broken wire finally
pulls far enough apart to never make contact. Unless this only happens for
certain programs (some mice have drivers that allow special functions with
certain applications; perhaps that is now set up incorrectly) but the slow
onset and the cursor dropping to the bottom of the screen points to a bad
cable. Your problem is much more likely to be a hardware or software problem
than a virus. Try swapping for another mouse, borrowed from another system.
