I have the reccomended AVG free virus remover from Grisoft. And about three times at this point it's shown this message:
"AVG has detected a virus in c:\SystemVolumeInformation\_restore{1D754853-CD2B-4287....}\RP166\A0068777.dll
Please use the scanner to find and fix it". Anyway, the first time I got this message, I opened AVG for windows and scanned in the C drive for it, only to see no virus was found.
I then got the same message another two times and finally wrote down most of the location. To begin with, I didn't even know I had a system volume information folder. So I went into folder options in the control panel and set it to show all files. I wanted to understand just what kind of thing I was dealing with here so I went to C:\ and tried to open the now apparent "System Volume Information" folder only to find "access is denied". And this is on a personal computer. Just what is "System Volume Information"? Is it possible for there to be a virus in there? And if there is, how can I access it?
