Try using a program such as MMM3 (http://mmm3.sf.net), it will help you
preview only the headers of the messages and you can use it to delete
the messages directly from your email server. Also see
http://nakawe.sf.net/MMM3 for some info on how to use it to
automatically get rid of some of this stuff.
