Not true.
Another thing you had in common is connecting an unprotected computer
to the internet.
Simply enabling/installing a firewall would have prevented this.
There is no connection to getting the updates and Blaster getting to
the computer.
If the computer was not getting any updates it still would have been
infected with Blaster.
