Please read McAfee's description:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_99040.htm

If you are infected, it may have already destroyed many sectors worth of data on your hard
disk. You *may* be past a repair !

The only way to reinstall WIN.COM is to restore it from the System Restore or re-install
WinME.

| I had my computer scanned @ trendmicro.com. It found the
| virus PE_MAGISTR.B In the instructions to fix this
| problem it says, "If during the scanning the Trojan was
| detected in WIN.COM or NTLDR, DO NOT RESTART WINDOWS.
| This Trojan portion of the virus will trash your hard
| drive. For 9x/ME users, obtain a clean copy of the
| WIN.COM and overwrite the one that was detected."
| How do I obtain a clean copy of this "WIN.COM" for Windows
| ME and then overwrite the one that was detected?
