| A firewall is ok, but you really need to watch out for
spyware programs
| (firewalls do not block them since they are wrapped up in
programs).
| Definitely get virus software, symantec is one of the best.

| Hi Kathi: You need a Firewall as well as up to date
Antiviral and all Microsoft Critical Patches; Spyware removal
programs are also very useful for all sorts of problems that
aren't handled by the above. Read the following link, it
explains your question about what a firewall is, and whether
you need one, and explains why you need that and Antiviral
program, with links to really good "free" Firewalls, and
Antiviral software. Just make sure you update Antiviral
weekly, and keep current on the MS Patches through the
Microsoft site ONLY. Microsoft Update:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
Explanation on Firewalls, Antiviral and why they are a "must
have," and places to get them free, as well as info on free
Spyware removal software, also very important...
