To add to the good words of the others here that have already replied to
you, I'd note that you're not posting on a "site". You're posting to the
Usenet newsgroups. You may be doing it _through_ Microsoft's web site
interface, but what you're posting _to_ is Usenet, a massively distributed
architecture of cooperative machines that each transfer items around for
public access.

The key to the answer to your question is in the distributed cooperative
nature, and the fact that the messages are in public. Obviously, once
something gets out into the public, anyone can do what they like with it.
And because the machines hosting your post are distributed and cooperative,
rather than in any kind of "chain-of-command" setting, you can't send a
command to delete them, nor can you tell how long your information will
remain in public where the virus can get at it.

Look to filtering the incoming crap, and maybe complaining about it to its
source. I post a lot of mindless drivel in these newsgroups, so I get
anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand of these messages per day. I
filter it all, and complain about a few. Damn that Tiscali!

Alun.
