The term Rich Text can cover two formats HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and RTF (Rich Text
Format). If you have MS Word you will see that it can Read and Write files with the
extension .RTF. In either case, both mean that you can do constructs as; use multiple
fonts, bold face, underline, italics, colours, fonts sizing, text alignment, etc. Plain
Text has limited formatting capabilities.

When I made the statement "I think it is always appropriate to use rich text." I should
have denoted either HTML or RTF.
