I am not using MMM3 at all, but I have an ADSL account. Is your friend using
a firewall, or hardware router? Check configuration of a firewall for port
access. It may be set to allow the mail client to access the POP3 server,
but not MMM3. A router shouldn't affect access to POP3 servers, but look at
the logs, if there is one. Something weird may be going on.
Does the ISP have a none standard procedure for logging in? Most ISPs accept
just the username part of the email address; to the left of the '@'. But
some, including mine (SBC Yahoo! [Dial-Up|DSL] Service; the ISP isn't
Yahoo!, it is SBC Global), expect the whole nine yards;
<username@isp.invalid>.
