Yes, no archiving as is available to Google. There is a free archival search
available within each YG. I'd characterize the information as more tightly bound in
YG, but it's certainly available to anyone who can become a member of a YG. It would
be interesting to know the total size of YG. I'd bet in sheer number of groups they
easily outdistance NGs. I suspect the total volume of traffic is larger than NGs,
but I really don't know.

If I'm not mistaken, Yahoo owns the newsgroup archives. I believe they took them
over a few years back from someone else.

For ease of use, I like NGs, but for vulnerability I'd go the other way. For any
individual to be able to easily create a YG is an outstanding feature of YG. The
biggest detraction of YG is advertising.
