SBC Yahoo! DSL Service (the full, official name for even us migrated folk,
whether from swbell.net (you), or pacbell.net (me)) will be of no help in
calling them. Even the Special Contributors, the SBC Global news group
counterparts to the MVPs in these groups, have to shuck-and-jive for the SBC
non-responses to the problem. Supposedly there is a work order in to add a
virus scanning premium option to the SBC Global customers, as a part of the
package, not extra charge, which is already being offered to the paying
Yahoo! customers. Somehow it does not surprise me that the left hand (SBC)
didn't know what the right hand was doing (Yahoo!).

Two things two remember about our provider; there is not a partnership
between SBC Global (parent company to swbell.net and pacbell.net, among
others, including the former Prodigy) and Yahoo! Rather, SBC Global has
contracted with Yahoo! to provide Internet content for SBC Global users. SBC
is paying the bill, so they get to call the shots; so I am told.

Do you know how to set up a news reader? The SBC Global news groups do not
have Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 access, as far as I know, so you would
have to set up an account in MSOE, or a different client, if you prefer.
Point your client to <news.*.sbcglobal.net>, where the star is a local,
usually two-letter, code for your region. You should be able to find the
appropriate name on the SBC Yahoo! site, somewhere. I am still trying to
figure out where they are hiding such useful information! Or see if you can
still get to the swbell.prodigy.net pages.

Meanwhile, all you can do is try to filter the account. Keep looking at your
web access to your email, and see if they get around to adding the viral
filtering option; it should be free to SBC Global users, if they go through
with it. Otherwise, Vernica's suggestion, or something like POPFile, K9, or
MailWasher are also viable options.
