Do *not* use your real email address in any microsoft newsgroup or it will
be harvested by the virii and you will get lots of emails with the latest
virus. These latest virii are programmed to look at public newsgroups
listed in your registry. That includes this newsgroup.
Always use a non-existent email address or a throw-away address from
sneakemail or some other similar service when posting in newsgroups,
especially public ones.

Just looking at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html
shows that there are about 50 viruses in the wild since October 1, with 2
discovered only in the last two days. Obviously, protection is not available for
viruses until after they are discovered and reported, so the AV for the 2
most-recent virii was only available yesterday, the 21st.

Symantec and other AV companies offer free online security and AV scans
There are about 500,000 "zombies" in the wild. These are compromised
microsoft computers that are under control of someone else. They are used
for sending spam and propagating more viruses. I look at it as computer
rape. Your computer is being forcibly used and abused by someone you do
not know who is probably not even in the US.
While you think you are simply browsing or playing a game, somebody is
using your computer to do what ever they want.
