Hi Bruce: We've had this conversation before, and I appreciate your advice,
but I still have a question. I've had problems with the messenger pop ups,
and have done everything that you and everyone else has mentioned, and they
still come through. This is happening on a new Sony Vaio with XP home~SP1,
TrendMicro AV/Firewall, with the following ports blocked: UDP 135, 137, 138
and TCP 135, 139, 445, on a external cable modem. I'm also running
adaware/lavasoft, google pop up blocker, and they still show up. I'm very
diligent when it comes to updating my AV, and MS critical patches. I have
talked to TrendMicro about this many times, 'after' I blocked these ports
and the pop ups kept coming, and their only solution after blocking those
ports, was to turn off messenger. If I'm missing something, or if my
firewall isn't working properly how do I find out. I have NO other problems
with my computer whatsoever. Can you tell me what the solution might be? I
also scan my computer frequently for worms/viruses/trojans at the online AV
scanning sites, and with my AV on my computer, and it's always clean. What
else can I do besides disabling messenger, nothing else has worked? Do you
have an ideas...?
