The windows update text file is probably the windows update.log
This file is updated everytime you go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
It holds the patches and updates you have installed.
The xml files are also installed from Microsoft, they are data files read
that are stored after your visit.
If you need more information on XML files, go to google and type in Message
format XML.
