Please advise as to solution to AdDestroyer removal.
Conducted a system restore in addition to uninstall -- as
you can see from the users below -- this hideously
annoying exe file loads itself causing excessive popup
ads. In just 4 hours as my computer lay dormant -- 98
popup windows were opened. Worse when actually using IE.
Somebody help --- PLEASE!!!!

AdDestroyer.exe and VirtualBouncer.exe
----------------------------------------------------------
----------------------
I started this forum and discussion board because when i
googled "AdDestroyer.exe" I didn't get a single hit. I
wanted people to know that the software they think is
supposed to be blocking pop-ups (that they don't quite
recall installing) is probably responsible for them.
I got infected using Internet Explorer (F'ing Microsoft),
just viewing a webpage about the Star Wars Kid. This one
is tricky. Somehow it installed the software without
asking for permission. AdDestroyer.exe also installs
VirtualBouncer.exe (Ad Destroyer & Virtual Bouncer ...
sorry, one more time for the search engines). And I'm not
sure if it's related or I just picked it up from the same
site, but STC.exe (Second Thought) also seems to have
installed itself. It comes along with programs a bunch of
stc*.*, nCase*.* and 2nd*.* files. Hopefully, AdAware,
and the anti-virus people will get updates soon, but
until then, I'll have to watch where I surf.
If you have any more information about how to prevent,
unload, or block this software, please post!

Okay... After unistalling Virtual Bouncer from
Add/Remove Programs, run AdAware, and then go to
your "Internet Options" for IE. Clear out your Temporary
Internet Files, delete all your cookies, delete your
downloaded program files. This seemed to work for me.
Somehow it is running the install program over again
after you reboot, so I think the secret is getting rid of
it from your cache.

AdDestroyer (not!)

Help! Ack! My Add/Remove will not "allow" me to remove
the program. I NEVER downloaded this. That much I know.
It's diabolical. The Ad-aware program does not remove it
either. I can go to the Find File and find it then trash
it, but it comes back.

I am a rather savvy user, and with just one wrong click,
I became infected with the "pop up"
generators:Addestroyer and VirtualBouncer.
You are right, there is not an easy way to remove them.
Here is what I did: If you don't have Virus Scan
software, try Spybot Search and Destroy at:
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?
lang=en&page=bots. It is freeware. Read the docs,
if you are comfortable, go ahead and install it. I used
Easy mode. Make sure you download the updated definitions
or you won't clean all the hooks for this worm. Once you
have updated your virus scan softwware (whatever you use)
Close your browser and leave it closed.
I uninstalled the applications with Add/Remove programs-
This did not remove them, but i wanted them out of the
programs list so they couldn't reinstall that way.
I ran the virus scan and it found the STC "Second
Thought" software, and reg keys. I had Spybot "immunize"
my system (read that as: delete the files, remove
registry keys).
Then I searched the registry, you may want to back up
your registry before doing this, for safety reasons.
Also, update your recovery disks. I searched for "STC",
which I found one. I deleted it.
I opened the properties of IE and dleted all chached
content, offline content, history, removed all objects
and removed all cookies..
I may have gone further than I needed. But I have not had
the pop ups since i did this.
As an aside, i was very pleased with spybot. My machine
has
McAffee virus scan, and it did not help me with this
issue. I cannot say it is a fault of McAffee, as the
installation was done by my comapny and may not be up to
date. There is no way for me to manually update McAffee,
as I am restricted by my company IT group.
good luck..

Oh, one more step in removing... make sure you CTRL-ALT-
DEL and close the process before you start removing (and
prob a good idea to make sure after you are done too).

pondhopper thank you so much for your advice. I followed
it exactly and so far no more popups ...
I found several program files that I deleted - nCase,
VBounce, STC.
I had done a Norton antivirus scan and not found anything
so I'm pretty pleased with Spybot too.

I also had the mysterious ad destroyer and vbouncer
trying to download - thankfully I have a slow dial-up
connection and was able to catch them before they
finished. And, I, too tried a search on these and looked
at Symantec.com but found nothing about it. Luckily I was
able to just delete the files since they were empty, but
I have warned others at the site I was at when they tried
to download and linked them to this page. What a pain in
the ***.

I have just been infected with this terrible software and
I will try the previous postings to remove it. However, I
believe this type of software is ruining the internet and
someday, someone will have to pass laws prohibiting this
type of software on the internet. Surely someone (perhaps
the United Nations) can start to regulate the internet
and block all the SPAM and these types of programs that
are clogging and ruining the internet.

I've found STClient Class in my registry. Should I delete
this key?

My advice:
Use Knoppix (linux on CD) to view dangerous www.
I've just removed addestroyer&vbouncer
Spybot is a very good program:-)

It's such a relief to be free from all those pop-ups!
Mon Guest, IMHO I would delete STClient.
I can't recommend Spybot highly enough though - it really
is the solution to finding and eliminating Ad Destroyer
and Virtual Bouncer.
Finally, if anyone wants a simple, effective, easy to
remove if you decide you don't want it pop-up-blocker
then I would suggest you consider the Google toolbar.

Well, I can tell you I'm just sick about this. I got this
stupid spyware infection just about 10 minutes ago from
the myimager.com website. It got right through Zone Alarm
and McAfee anti virus, both with the most current
updates.
I just did a google search trying to figure out what this
crud is, and ivorey.net is the only "hit" that comes up.
It's late and I'm too tired to mess with the clean-up
now, but glad you guys have some info about this scourge.
I'm just so ticked off!
