I just received the following email which appears to have
come directly from Microsoft with the following Subject
Line:
"Use this patch immediately!"

The sender is reflected as:
"Microsoft" <security@microsoft.com>

Word for word, the message reads as:
"Dear friend , use this Internet Explorer patch now!
There are dangerous virus in the Internet now!
More than 500.000 already infected!"

The attachment is described as:
Name: patch.exe
Type: unspecified type (application/octet-stream)
Encoding: base64

On receiving it, I did try to open the attachment and
nothing happened. Then the thought occurred to me that
this might be a fraudulent email with an attached virus.
Thankfully, my computer had the Patch #823980 previously
installed.
