Pop up ads

I keep getting pop up ads about spyware and adware. I've installed McAfee Antispyware and its found some adware that I've removed, but these ads from Microsoft Internet Explorer keep poping up offering me free downloads to get rid of them (esp. spyware) I don't want the free download or the pop ups...I can't get anything done for clicking off of these aggravating things...How do I stop this?
