Hi,
SSL requires an SSL Server Certificate. To get such a certificate, you need
to generate a Certificate Request, submit that to a CA (Certification
Authority). The CA generates the Certificate, and you install this on your
server (eg your webserver). This has nothing to do with Active Directory per
se.
Once the server identification cert is installed for your website, users can
use https://www.servername.com rather than just http://www.servername.com
Cheers

: Hi,
:
: Hopefully this helps. He wants to set up ssl so that
: instead of having to assigne ssl to a domain or sub
: domain all you would have to do is type in https instead
: of http. In the end this would save him some time. He
: has seen it done but can not find any documents on this
: topic. From what he has told me you can't, or he doesn't
: want to, use active direcory when setting up the server
: like this. I'm goint to forward your link to him and see
: if this helps him. Thanks for the help.
