Hello,
By default any site in IIS is configured for Anonymous and Integrated
windows authentication. IE will first attempt anonymous access, if that
fails, it will try Integrated authentication. It appears that Anonymous is
failing and we are falling back on Integrated. Try accessing the site using
the servername and check if you are still prompted.
Follow the steps in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;271071
to confirm you have the right permissions for the IUSR account specifically.
Check the event logs on the server and see if there are any warnings/errors
around the time you get prompted for credentials.
It could be possible that the IUSR account is out of sync
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;297989)
Let me know if this helps!
Thanks,
Yogita Manghnani
