Re: Problem with IIS 6.0 Anonymous Requests

I've never seen IIS6 spontaneously "change" the anonymous user password and
then start rejecting requests. The worker process as Network Service does
not have write permissions to the metabase, so any such metabase changes are
probably all coming from outside of IIS.

Are you sure that your problem isn't that some Group Policy or other process
is intentionally messing around with IIS settings on your machine such that
anonymous access fails?

You're able to prove that by restoring the metabase, it corrects your
issues -- so maybe you want to figure out what is repeatedly changing your
IIS configuration. If you stop that, maybe the spontaneous changes will
stop as well.

Hi:
Several people have posted to this newsgroup the following
problem: IIS 6.0 processes anonymous requests properly for several
hours but then begins to deny anonymous requests and requires a
password. In my case this happens right after an SceCli event "Security
Policy in the Group Objects are
Applied Successfully".
Has anyone found a solution to this other than stopping IIS,
restoring the metabase setting, and then starting IIS.
Thank you,
