Sorry for delay in reply - on Holiday !

Yes I do indeed thing it must be a wa of looking for open relays.

However what I do not understand is why give IIS and connect command to
a remote smtp port ?
Is there some IIS functionality that is not well known ?
Does anyone have a clue why this should be attempted ?

In response to an earlier question - no the server is not set up to
relay and the opetion which allows all authenticated hosts to relay is
also turned off.

The OPTIONS question - this is FrontPage or Outlook Web Access (OWA) I
think - you will find in MS KB articles on which verbs are used by these
products if you search with (Frontpage or OWA) and (URLScan or
LOCKDOWN). If you use webdav there is a lot more in the KB.

Dave.
