It's not possible to set up a site for SSL without a server certificate.
SSL rules wouldn't allow it, and neither would IIS.

So, your claim about IIS5 supporting https without a server certificate is
100% impossible.

Easiest way to do this is to download IIS6 Resource Kit and run SelfSSL:

Hey everyone. I know this is a fairly simple question,
but I'm having some trouble. I want to setup a site to
use SSL, but when I go to the site using https nothing
shows up. I'm not concerned with getting a certificate
just yet, I just want to access the site without one for
now. I know this could be done in IIS 5, but I dont know
about IIS 6. Thanks for the help.
