Microsoft hasn't detected anything.

you've just recieved a spurious messenger popup - yes, essentially a
scam. just go to control panel->administrative
tools->services->messenger, get the properties and set the startup mode
to manual. you will see this message no more.

however you could do worse than to run a real spyware scanner as well! -
