Eddie,
For Basic authentication to work properly, the user account needs to have
"Logon Locally", "Access this computer from the network" and "Bypass
traverse checking" privileges on the web server. My guess is that the first
privilege isn't assigned to this user.
Did this ever work for this user? If they hit cancel instead of providing
credentials, what error do they see?
