you might want to check what 'user' the web application is running ?
what authentication it is using ? does the user has required permission
to upload file and etc ?

check IIS log file for more clues.

(again a windows 2003) as a file server. Whenever I try to upload a file to
my fileserver through browser, it asks for an authentication. This
authentication is for the localhost. I have tried to solve this problem by
creating same users on both the machines with same password. Also i have
given permission to the folder where the file is being stored. Still I get
this authentication problem. Can anyone help me out?
