1) Windows 2003: IIS6
2) Windows XP: IIS 5.1
3) Windows 2000: IIS5.0
4) Windows NT4: check the fileversion of
%systemroot%\system32\inetsrv\w3svc.dll
If 4.xxx -> IIS4 (NT option pack)-> This is the only MS PSS supported
version on NT4
If 3.xxx -> IIS3 (was a separate package, obsolete)
If 2.xx -> IIS2 (obsolete)
On Windows 2000 and up, check %systemroot%\inf\iis.inf for a complete list
of files that make up IIS. The Microsoft KB lists the version number of
files that are updated by a security update for example.
MSBA can be used to check if all currently published fixes have been
installed.
