Your understanding about how Integrated Windows Authentication is right. If
a domain user is logged in to the machine then he/she should not be
prompted for credentials when browsing a site set up with Integrated
Windows Authenticaiton. However, there is an exception to this- if the url
has any periods (or dots) in it, then IE will assume the site to be an
external site and prompt you for credentials again. To work around this,
add the url to your Local Intranet Zone.
