I have several Exchange 2000 servers running in different locations for
different clients. The exchange servers are stand alone AD units that
are running in the DMZ of the firewall. The E2K servers are not part of
the clients LAN as far as AD or authentication goes. they use a separate
login for their email server to keep them isolated from the LAN.
Since these clients are very small, some are also running their web
sites on the E2K machine - static HTML pages only - fully patched IIS
with HTTP filtering on the firewall, and massive subnet block lists.
I have the E2K setup on the same IP as the domain name mapping and the
website, I have added a self signed certificate to allow SSL for OWA,
and moved the default website HTTP to port 8081 (but not mapped a rule
to allow it from the internet). The website comes in on port 80 and is
mapped to a public root site on the IIS config - not the default site.
The SSL port is mapped back to the OWA from the default IIS webs site IP
on the server.
So, here is the layout:
Default Site: HTTP 8081, Internal IP #1 \default site
SSL OWS Site: HTTPS 443, Internal IP #1 \Exchange
Web Site: HTTP 80, Internal IP #2 \customers web site
Firewall: HTTP 80, maps to Internal IP #2
Firewall: HTTPS 443, maps to Internal IP #1
No firewall mapping for 8081
When users open https://domainname.com/exchange they get the certificate
trust message, click yes, get into OWA, and all is good until they
select OPTIONS and try to change their password. It appears that the
CHANGE PASSWORD option takes them to a different location that is not
within the \Exchange folder on the web. At this point I'm at a loss for
how to allow users to change their passwords in OWA.
Any ideas on how to let users change their passwords via OWA????
